Teen Bike Thieves Bragging Online About Thefts

Avon and Somerset Constabulary have been working tirelessly against a gang of motorbike thieves operating in Bristol, who have been posting photos of the bikes they’ve pinched on an Instagram account.

It’s now thought there are up to 15 different members of this particular gang uploading on the Bristolstovecs and Bristolbiketaker social media accounts, including photos and videos, the Bristol Post reports.

Since March, hundreds of images have been posted on social media sites, with the Instagram page currently boasting a following of over 8,400 people. The page itself proclaims: “We take anything and everything, everything’s legal around here.”

A spokesman for the local police force was quoted by the news source as saying: “We can confirm there is an ongoing and active investigation into these thefts and we appreciate there is continuing concern among motorbike owners and the wider public.

“We’re aware of the use of social media accounts and there are a number of enquiries we’re carrying out to establish who has posted the pictures and what crimes they may relate to.”

If you’re concerned about crime in your local area and want to make sure that your employees are able to get to work and back without having their personal property stolen, consider investing in a motorcycle shelter.

These come in a variety of different designs, sizes and shapes so you’re certain to find one that’s right for you and your premises. You would also be wise to remind your members of staff about the importance of personal security, advising them to invest in large chain or cable locks that should always be secured to something immovable like a lamppost or even another bike.
